Practical solutions to complex social challenges.
Nick Hopkins brings 17 years of independent consultancy experience to public bodies, housing associations and voluntary sector organisations across Scotland and the UK.
"Strategies and reports that are full of unrealistic, over-expensive objectives are of little use to anyone. My focus is on delivering practical, implementable solutions that create measurable impact for service users."
— Nick Hopkins

About Nick
Decades of experience in the field, not just at the desk.
Nick holds a B.A. (Hons.) in PPE from Oxford University and an M.Phil in Urban Policy from the University of Glasgow. He has been operating as an independent consultant since 2007, following senior roles at Glasgow Housing Association, Rocket Science UK, and the Glasgow Council for the Voluntary Sector.
At Glasgow Housing Association, Nick co-founded Scotcash — now one of the UK's largest personal lending Community Development Finance Institutions — and designed a benefit take-up programme for older tenants that was recognised nationally as exemplary practice.
He has established Settlement and Integration Networks across five areas, helped found the Men's Health Forum Scotland, and served as consultant to the Scottish Office on housing funding allocation.

Practical over theoretical
Every engagement produces clear, actionable outputs — not reports that sit on shelves. Solutions are designed to be implemented within your organisation's actual constraints.
Grounded in evidence
Rigorous qualitative and quantitative research underpins all strategy work. Recommendations are informed by data, sector benchmarking, and real stakeholder engagement.
Built on relationships
Long-term client relationships across Scotland and the UK reflect a commitment to delivery over billing. Most work comes through referral and repeat commissions.
